Sharing Comfort: The Lending Cupboard's Impact

Meet Karen – who came in after slipping on some ice and breaking her ankle.

“It’s incredible organization that says they’d be happy to help you – no problem! I can’t tell you how very reassuring that is. This group of staff and volunteers – they do what they do with heart and with compassion. I was just so impressed!”

As a retired registered nurse, Karen was indeed well-versed in how medical equipment can make such a tremendous difference in a patient’s recovery.

“The equipment that they made available to me – it was all set up for my husband to pick up the moment I got out of the hospital. It was all ready to go. It all just made a huge difference.”

This is where you really find out how special the volunteers are. You can go to many places in town and meet volunteers, but not like the ones at The Lending Cupboard™. They come with a special style. You go in there, and it’s a happy and upbeat group. “What a gem for our city!”

Enhancing Quality of Life

We believe that through the work at The Lending Cupboard™ we are supporting Central Albertans young and old to have the ability to live their lives the best they can, to be socially engaged with family, friends, and community, and to be able to maintain their mobility, independence, and dignity.

Three simple but essential factors for quality of life are key to our mission and are
entrenched in our values at TLC:

Mobility

Mobility is important to the physical, social, cultural, and emotional development from the start of life to the end of an individual’s life.

2.png

Independence

Independence is the ability to be self-reliant and self-sufficient and do things for oneself.

Dignity

Dignity is the belief that all people hold a special value that's tied solely to their humanity, a conscious sense of one's own worth.
