What is a Community Needs Assessment?

A community needs assessment identifies the strengths and resources available in the community, focusing on the capabilities of the community, including its citizens, agencies, and organizations.

Why did The Lending Cupboard do a Community Needs Assessment?

Over its ten years of service to Central Alberta, The Lending Cupboard Society has seen tremendous growth. Additionally, there have been many changes within the Health industry over those years.

It is important that The Lending Cupboard develop a robust understanding of population and demographic growth trends, emerging health and wellness issues in Central Alberta.

funding-pie-chartGoals of the project included:

  • To learn about the needs in central Alberta that relate to the mission of The Lending Cupboard
  • To determine whether or not, and/or the ways in which The Lending Cupboard can support more communities in Central Alberta and beyond
  • To obtain meaningful data that will support and inform The Lending Cupboard to make its best decisions
