Board of Directors 2023- 2024

  • Amanda has been with The Lending Cupboard™ (TLC) Board of Directors since 2017. She has served on several TLC committees.

    Amanda has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and a Chartered Professional Accountants and CA designations. She worked in public practice for 10 years before moving to Glover International Trucks as their Controller in 2016. She has served on multiple boards as Treasurer prior to her time with TLC.

  • Bill joined TLC’s Board of Directors in 2019 as one of our directors and is currently our board chair. Bill brings to our board a wealth and understanding of the healthcare environment as a retired physician.

    After a 40-year career in health care and raising his family with the incredible support of his spouse (of 49 years) Aline, retirement has allowed more time for outdoor activities, grandchildren, connecting with friends, and giving back to the community.

    Bill is also the chair of our Board Development committee and sits on our Executive committee.

  • Samantha joined TLC’s Board of Directors in 2019. She is currently on the Executive committee as vice chair and chairs the Fundraising committee.

    She is an IIROC licensed Wealth Advisor and currently working towards her Certified Investment Management (CIM) designation. She also carries her Life Insurance (LLQP) certification with the Alberta Insurance Council (AIC).

    Samantha is an avid volunteer within her community, on our board, and can be found behind the bench as the assistant coach of the Women’s Queens Hockey team at Red Deer Polytechnic.

  • David joined our Board of Directors in 2022 and serves as treasurer and a member of our Policy and Finance committees. Through his Chartered Professional Accountant designation, David brings his accounting and finance expertise to TLC.

  • Kenton joined our Board of Directors in 2021 and serves as a director and a member of our Board Development committee.

    Prior to joining our board, Kenton volunteered in the returns department of our loans program. During the day, he teaches high school math.

    Kenton has a young son that fills a lot of his time, but in his free time, he enjoys being outside especially hiking, biking, and x-country skiing.

  • Al joined TLC’s Board of Directors in 2020 and serves as a director.

    Al has lived in Red Deer since 1986 and has been involved with media for most of those years. He volunteers for many community boards and events and, in his free time, he enjoys watching hockey and baseball and is an avid San Francisco Giants fan.

  • Becky joined TLC Board of Directors in 2024. With a psychology degree and a career focusing on human resources and safety, she focuses on enhancing organizational dynamics and employee well-being. Additionally, her journey has taken her into the non-profit disability sector, where she has gained insights into community connectedness, partnerships, and finding inspiration.

    Becky has over ten years of experience building leadership and mentorship programs to boost staff development and enhance organizational missions, goals and values.

    Becky focuses on her family in her spare time and loves exploring Alberta's beautiful mountains, waterfalls and hiking scenery.

  • Teresa joined our Board of Directors in 2021 and serves as a director, along with membership on our Ad Hoc Policy and Ad Hoc Trademark committees. Teresa has been a lawyer since 2012 and has worked in both private practice and as a staff lawyer for a nonprofit organization. Teresa also serves on the Executive committee of the Central Alberta Bar Society and continues to do volunteer work with other local organizations.

    In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and sketching.

  • Penny joined our board in 2021 and serves as a director, along with chairing our Ad Hoc Policy committee.

    Penny’s background is in Nursing, having graduated from the Regina General Hospital. Her clinical experience was in Pediatrics, Emergency, Hemodialysis, Day Surgery, and Ambulatory Care. With further Nursing Leadership experience in Emergency, Ambulatory Care, Operating Room, Recovery Room, and Medical/Surgical Nursing Units and Clinical Coordinator for the Redevelopment project.

    Penny retired in 2011 when she was the Director of Surgery for Central Alberta.

  • Rebecca has over ten years of experience as a Business Development Professional. In her current role as Business Development Consultant with Red Deer Polytechnic, she works closely with business partners to support and enable organizational cultures of lifelong learning and development through customized training solutions.

    She holds a BBA from St.FX University and most recently completed her Graduate Certificate in Human Resources Management.

    Rebecca joined our Board of Directors in 2022 and serves as secretary, along with membership on our Fundraising and Board Development committees.
