Volunteer Spotlight

We are pleased to introduce Brenda, one of our newest volunteers!

Brenda, who moved to Central Alberta from Nova Scotia four years ago, joined the TLC team in April 2024.

Brenda has always loved to volunteer over the years, as she finds it a meaningful and practical means of supporting her community. There’s no doubt she is a caring, ‘people’ person.

“When I was in Nova Scotia, I used to volunteer at the Red Cross with lending (medical) equipment,” she said. “I really enjoyed doing that.”

She became aware of TLC via social media and was immediately interested in the mission of the organization.

She loves the very warm and friendly atmosphere at TLC, too. “It’s so wonderful – there is so much equipment! And the people here, the volunteers and the staff are just so great to be around. It’s a very welcoming place to be. I just love the atmosphere here.”

I love to help and communicate with people and volunteering at The Lending Cupboard™ fulfills that for me.

I’ve chosen to donate my time to The Lending Cupboard™, it’s a good learning experience and I like helping other people. Volunteering here made me realize I was making a difference when just sitting with the elders and listening to them. After hearing them talk about their problems I just want to get up and hug them, or cry with them. My advice to others – Come and try it out, it’s a good experience and you will meet lots of new people.
