Harvest Gala: A Night to Remember

The Harvest Gala took place September 22, 2023 and was a spectacular evening of celebration and support for our mission to enhance the quality of life by providing medical equipment and daily living aids that promote mobility, independence, and dignity. Thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors and the enthusiastic participation of the community, this event was a resounding success.

The evening kicked off with a delightful showcase of local brewery samples, featuring Sawback Brewing Co., Hansen Distillery, and Snake Lake Brewing Co. Guests had the opportunity to indulge in a variety of unique flavors, tantalizing their taste buds. The breathtaking venue beautifully complemented the picturesque setting, surrounded by golden wheat fields, creating an enchanting ambiance. Attendees enhanced the beauty of the scene by donning their finest white attire.

Catered by HT Catering, the culinary experience was nothing short of exceptional. The magnificent menu included a refreshing strawberry spinach salad, and tender AAA roast beef, accompanied by duchess potatoes and tri-colored carrots, and culminated in a decadent cinnamon-spiced apple crisp that left everyone fully satisfied.

The Harvest Gala also provided a platform for our special guest speaker, Marlyne Adams, to share her journey as both a client and volunteer at The Lending Cupboard. Her heartfelt account emphasized the critical role that The Lending Cupboard plays in the lives of those in need of medical equipment. It was a powerful testament to the organization's impact on individuals and families.

Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to participate in an exciting silent auction, featuring an array of incredible items. The bidding added an element of thrill and friendly competition to the evening, with crowd favorites such as a set of Samsonite luggage, perfect for future adventures, and a roundtrip voucher for two to any Flair Air destination.

The success of the Harvest Gala would not have been possible without the invaluable support and generosity of our event sponsors. We extend our deepest gratitude to River Valley Wedding Venue, the Red Deer Advocate, Kraze 101.3, X100.7, Big 105, 106.7 Rewind Radio, Joan Donald, Kathy Lacey, Petal & Blum Creative and Co-op Liquor for exemplifying the spirit of community collaboration that drives our vital mission.

These fundraising efforts are instrumental in enabling us to serve the growing needs of our communities. As the night drew to a close, we were overwhelmed with gratitude for the support received from attendees, sponsors, and those who shared the event with their friends and family. On behalf of The Lending Cupboard's dedicated staff and volunteers, we extend our heartfelt thanks.

Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the 2023

Ladies’ Luncheon.

On May 11th, the Cenovus Energy Learning Common at Red Deer Polytechnic was bustling with women of all ages for the 12th Annual Ladies’ Luncheon. With over 250 guests in attendance, it was bound to be a magnificent event.

“The annual Ladies’ Luncheon, originally started by TLC volunteers Eileen Cole and Marlis McPherson, is always a great time, with plenty of food, laughter, and fundraising,” said our Executive Director, Lori Shatto.

With a venue change this year, we were pleased to see many of our friends and supporters coming together in one beautiful room to celebrate our collective strength while raising money for a great cause.

The fashion show, always a highlight of the event, was stunning - with fashions provided by our great friends at Side Street Fashion and Accessories and Great Strides Fine Shoes. We must say that the women who modelled for us this year were beautiful—a huge thank you to the students from MC College for styling the models’ hair.

“We were so excited with the theme this year – together, we are stronger than diamonds. Not only was it fun connecting the theme to the event decor and raffle, but it resonates with our work” said Kristin Mountain, our Fundraising/Donor Relations Coordinator.

This year, the event raised over $10,000. Thanks to Red Deer Goldsmith, who designed a stunning 14K diamond ring specifically for this event. Lois Moen was beyond excited when she heard her number being announced. Congratulations Lois!

This annual event takes place on Thursday before Mother’s Day. So, if this is your first time hearing about it, we hope to see you there next year on May 9.
